Objectives
·
Undertakes procurement
and marketing of agricultural and other products to enable the growers to get
remunerative prices.
·
As Nodal Agency of
Government, procures, maintains buffer storage and distributes fertilizers
(DAP, Complex Fertilizers, Urea and all other Fertilizers) and micro-nutrients
like Zinc Sulphate, Gypsum etc.
·
Supply modern
agricultural production requisites and other inputs to encourage the farmers to
adopt improved agricultural and animal husbandry practices.
·
Provide storage,
transport and other custom services near agriculture production and marketing
centers for the convenience and benefit of its member societies and the
farmers.
·
Promotes and set agro
based processing units to help generate rural employment and accelerate rural
development.
·
Acts as agent of
government for procurement, supply and distribution of agricultural and other
produce or other goods as and when required to do so.
·
Arrange for distribution
to its members of goods which the farmers needs such as seeds, fertilizers and
other agri inputs etc.
·
To rent or own godowns,
sales depots within its jurisdiction and elsewhere if necessary to facilitate
the storage and sale of agricultural and other produce belonging to it and its
member societies and their members.
Activities
·
Markfed is the Nodal
Agency for procurement, maintenance of buffer stock and distribution of
Fertilizers (DAP, Complex Fertilizers and Urea) and distributes the same
through cooperative network to avoid any hardship to the farmers in the
availability of fertilizers at MRP.
·
As State Level Nodal
Agency, Markfed distributes Zinc Sulphate and Gypsum to the farmers under
various government subsidy schemes.
·
Markfed is the state
level nodal agency for procurement of coarse grains (viz., Maize, Jowar and
Bajra), Pulses (viz., Green gram, Black gram and Red gram) and cotton under
Minimum Support Price (MSP). The central level nodal agency for procurement of
coarse grain is FCI, for pulses NAFED and for cotton is CCI & NAFED.

In case of commercial
crops like chilies and turmeric there is no MSP. If the market prices fall
below the cost of production, to protect the interests of the farmers, based on
the recommendation of State Government, Government of India approves the price
of the Market Intervention Scheme (MIS). As per the directions of State
Government Markfed shall procure chilies and turmeric under (MIS).

Markfed monitors the
market prices of Agricultural commodities, wherever market prices fall below
MSP announced by Government, Markfed immediately starts procurement such
commodities to avoid distress sale by the farmers.
A Golden Journey in the service of farmers

TG. Markfed - an apex organization
in the Coop. Sector with a net membership of 554, cooperatives throughout
Telangana.

We undertake activities
to serve the farmers through the network of PACS, DCMS, AMCs, and village
organizations of self-helps groups.
·
We Undertake price support
operations as agent to State Govt. & GOI to provide remunerative prices to
the farmers, for their produce.
·
Markfed is nominated as
Nodal agency for procurement, maintenance of buffer stocks and distribution of
Fertilizers to market at MRP.
·
We supply quality Seeds
to the farmers under Govt. subsidy schemes.
·
We provide storage and
custom services to farmers, through our godowns confined to Telangana State.
·
We provide storage
facility to the farmers scattered over Telangana area to the extent of 79,000
MT capacities.
·
We promote and set up
Agri-based units to get value addition for the produce of the farmers and to
generate rural employment and produce “Nandi Brand” Cattle Feed.

operating Cotton Ginning Mill at
Adilabad
·
We create a database of
market prices of various agricultural commodities & market intelligence for
the use of farmers & cooperatives through Markfeds website.
Fertilizers
Government have been nominating Markfed as ‘Nodal Agency’ from
2008-09 onwards for procurement, pre-positioning and distribution of
fertilizers:
Government have been nominating Markfed as
‘Nodal Agency’ from 2008-09 onwards for procurement, pre-positioning and
distribution of fertilizers to avoid any hardship to the farmers in the
availability of fertilizers. Government have been permitting Markfed to raise
loans from the banks for procurement of fertilizers and agreed to reimburse the
interest incurred thereon on a quarterly basis. Government has also agreed to
reimburse the incidental expenses towards handling, storage, insurance and
transportation expenditure incurred by Markfed.
For the agricultural year 2018-19 also
Government have nominated Markfed as Nodal Agency vide GO Rt No.336 dated
29.05.2018 for maintaining buffer stock of 4.00 lakh MT of fertilizers viz.,
0.30 lakh MT of DAP, 0.70 lakh MT of Complexes and 3.00 lakh MT of Urea as per
the district-Wise buffer levels as indicated by the Commissioner, Agriculture.
Government have permitted Markfed to raise loans up to Rs.500 crores for the
above purpose from Banks/Financial institutions and agreed to reimburse
interest and incidental charges as being done in the past
Further during the last 7-years since 2008-09 to
2017-18, Markfed has distributed over 52.68 lakh MT of DAP, Complexes and Urea
to the farmers, through cooperative societies, ensured availability of
fertilizers throughout the State and avoided any kind of hardship to farmers.
In compliance to the Government Orders and as
per the directions of the Director of Agriculture, from time to time, the
Markfed is procuring required fertilizers, maintaining buffer stocks and
distributing them on F.O.L basis through cooperative societies and other
government agencies, Government could successfully overcome the crisis of
fertilizer availability by releasing the buffer stocks as and when there is a
spurt in demand and avoided any hardship to the farmers.
2. PROCUREMENT:

TG.Markfed is the nodal
agency for procurement of coarse grain and pulses under Minimum Price Support
Price (MSP) operations in the State. Besides MSP operations Markfed also
undertakes commercial procurement of agricultural commodities.

Markfed is also the
nodal agency for State Govt for procurement of chillies, KP onions, black
jaggery etc, whenever the need arises for intervention by the State Govt. to
avoid distress sale by the farmers.
·
Markfed has taken up
procurement of coarse grain for the years from 2000-01 onwards continuously.
After procurement FCI is taking action for movement of stock to other needy
States or for disposal of coarse grain by calling tenders.
·
Soon after the
disposal/lifting of coarse grain stock by FCI Markfed is submitting
compensation claims to Government of India (GOI) through State Govt. GOI is
settling claims.
